EVENTS
Opus Two Alpacas is committed to bringing high-quality education to prospective and current alpaca owners. Each year we present our Introduction to Alpaca Ranching workshop in Spring and Fall, a hands-on Neonatal Clinic, and sometimes additional husbandry and/or fiber-related workshops.
Due to the current process of downsizing and moving, no workshops are currently scheduled. If the new ranch has suitable facilities for a classroom, I will resume workshops at a later time. I am working with a couple of other ranches in the area to take over the neonatal clinics. I will post information when it is available.
Contact me if you would like to be on my email list for notification of new workshops.
Of course, if you are investigating the alpaca lifestyle or looking for additions to your herd, please call me at 530-346-7157 to schedule a ranch visit.
Here are summaries of two of our most popular workshops, which we present every year:

If you have breeding females and you take only one workshop, a Neonatal Clinic with hands-on lab is probably the most important one to attend.
The neonatal workshop will cover:
- Reproductive anatomy & physiology
- Breeding & pregnancy diagnosis
- Gestational development
- Care of pregnant dam
- Normal & abnormal birthing
- Care of normal and high-risk crias
The clinic includes a hands-on lab to help you prepare for handling a dystocia (abnormal position). Learn to determine the position of the cria, how to correct some dystocias and when to call the vet.
All workshops include continental breakfast, lunch, and course materials
